Julia’s Physical

We finally made it in for Julia’s age four physical a couple weeks ago. It’s a bit of a pain getting these set up: you have to book a time about six weeks in advance, so if you forget to schedule an appointment until the child’s actual birthday, you end up getting a slot in October instead of August.

Julia clocked in at 41¼ inches tall and 35 pounds, which places her in the 72nd and 43rd percentiles for height and weight, respectively.

There were three shots this time around: two of the standard immunizations and the flu vaccine. Julia held up about as well as we expected her to, and by the last one she was screaming bloody murder. She finally told the nurse, “You hurt me too many times!”

Everyone survived, though the removal of the Band-Aids turned out to be every bit as traumatic as the shots themselves. Luckily for us, we’ve got a second round of the flu vaccine coming up in a couple weeks—Joe too, this time around—so we can do it all over again.
